Who We Are

John MacLaren - President and Program Designer

John MacLaren has been a certified fitness specialist for over twelve years. John holds certifications in resistance training, sports and endurance training, post-rehabilitative exercise, pre- and post-natal health and fitness, training and physical therapy for elderly and special populations, fybromyalgia and CFS fitness programs, kinetic chain function and nutritional counseling. John is currently in the final development stages of the most advanced online fitness and physical rehabilitation database ever developed with the intention of offering cutting edge information at a very low cost to subscribers around the globe.  Keep an eye out for the launch of www.ultimatehuman.com in August or September of 2007.

John, a former U.S. Navy SEAL, left active duty in 1991 and began to pursue certification in nutrition and fitness training and an undergraduate degree and then masters degree in psychology. This course of study helped him to crystallize his personal fitness philosophy: that true fitness emerges from a balance of physical, mental, and emotional awareness.

John created Elite Fitness training Systems in 1995 and opened a private training studio in Santa Monica, CA in 1997. John serves as Program Designer for all of EFTS’s clients, and his staff of three include experts in the fields of training, nutrition, corporate fitness and coaching. John has helped thousands of people from every walk of life realize their health and fitness goals by focusing on individual needs, objectives, history and abilities. John works with both private and corporate/group clients, and is available for lectures on fitness, Leadership and Management, the mind-body connection, nutrition and overall well-being.

Personal Philosophy - "Training is about understanding and accepting yourself.  It is about recognizing and utilizing your potential and simply enjoying your life more and perhaps even living longer by doing so.  If I could have one wish for every client it would be that today or some day soon they recognize and enjoy how truly powerful each of us is when we become aware of and encourage our mental, physical and emotional states as one inseparable part of experiencing the self.  This is why I do what I do."

Patrick Mulderrig - Fitness Trainer and SEAL Fitness Class Team Leader

A client should be safely pushed beyond what they previously thought that they were capable of.  This is done by starting a new program slowly while analyzing the strengths of the client and designing a training program that is specific to that client and continually changes to challenge them as they evolve both mentally and physically.  Patrick is a former Navy SEAL of seven years.  While on active duty he served as a combat medic and is nationally certified as an E.M.T.-paramedic.  Patrick now works as part of the Elite Fitness Training Team training clients one-on-one and serving as department head for the EFTS Navy SEAL Fitness Class. Patricks training modalities are based on years of research and experience and supplemented by his N.A.S.M. certification and continual course work in bio-mechanics and training theories.

Personal Philosophy:  "As long as you bring a positive attitude and you are consistent with your training, you can be whatever you choose to be".
