In the old days, this product was one of the first widely marketed diet drinks out there.   Slim fast tastes great to most people and really did open up the market for health drinks but other than Tommy Lasorta and a huge marketing budget, I can’t for the life of me figure out why no other more beneficial product has marketed their way into toppling this name brand. Slim fast is chock full-o-sugar and there are so many other health drink powders and beverages that are of high quality and taste just as good. Sugar is the often the main culprit in keeping the stubborn fat on your butt. Sugar is nothing more than empty useless calories.  In a nutshell, if you want to lose fat....Stop eating sugar!  Notice that I did not say stop eating carbohydrates.  There are plenty of carbohydrate sources that are not pure simple sugars.  More on that on the carbohydrate page.  Slim fast is ok in a pinch but I feel that there are better options readily available.  Below is the slim fast diet plan.  A fine plan overall but only for a short time since it is based on restriction of foods.  I don't recommend this simply because it makes no long term sense and I have to assume that we all want to live long term.

Added Tips

  • If you would like to eat more than 5 times a day, you certainly may, but remember to eat only what the plan allows - 3 fruits, 1 large salad, plenty of vegetables, 3 JumpStart Shakes, and unlimited sugar free gelatin.

  • Exercise every day for at least 30 minutes. Brisk walking is one of the best exercises and can easily fit into your schedule.

  • Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day to help you feel satisfied and refreshed.

  • Weigh yourself every morning.

  • If you normally experience monthly water weight gain, wait a few days after you cycle before starting this diet for best results.
